Skateboard Vert Finals Recap
The prelims featured great skating and a good vibe. Despite the temperatures, the crowds were energetic, and all the competitors were in a jovial mood, laughing and cheering each other on. At the end of the prelims, the top ten were announced, with Taylor just qualifying in tenth and PLG in first.

With this year's new BMX Box Jump contest, no one really knew how things were going to unfold, but after seeing Enarson's performance at other contests this year, a lot of riders had picked Dennis for the win. They were right.

Hawthorne Heights Hits Phoenix:
Music Concert Report
Hot off the 2007 Warped Tour, Hawthorne Heights pulled into Phoenix for an encore performance at the Jobing.com Arena. At the top of their set, lead singer, JT Woodruff invited their fans out of the bleachers and onto the floor where everybody could rock in a more intimate setting.

A BMX Box Jump Contest?:
Put simply, it's a dirt contest without the dirt. That's how the riders have been describing it at least. You may have seen BMX dirt jumping on TV or in person. It's usually a roll-in to a set of anywhere from 3 to 5 jumps, requiring a rider to get through the whole set, while doing tricks on each one.

Phoenix Day Two:
Hot as Hell
For the entire month of August, the temperatures in Phoenix stayed over 110 degrees. The temperatures on the tarmac were enough to boil my eyes in my skull, but the action sports fans of Arizona braved the heat to pack into the Jobing.com Arena for a Labor Day weekend filled with excitement.
